Believe it or not, most people want
to know how to change their belly button ring long before they
should actually do it (i.e. when it is completely healed).
First and foremost, if your belly button
piercing is new - leave it in until it is completely healed! While
we know it's VERY tempting to want to remove it and replace it with one of
our great navel jewelry designs, it's important to the long-term health of
your body piercing that you allow it to heal completely before changing it
out. Once it has completely healed (usually around 2-6 months, depending
on how you care for it), we recommend you return to your original
(professional) piercers and have them remove the old ring (which was
probably a standard captive-ball ring), and replace it with your new belly
button ring.
After that first initial change, provided
you don't notice any swelling or soreness soon after , you should be able
to change your belly ring jewelry pretty much at will. Changing it
yourself is quite simple.
- Wash and sanitize your piercing, your
hands, and the jewelry you will be inserting.
- Unscrew the ball (which is at either the
top or bottom of the belly ring, depending on style).
- Insert the belly ring barbell into your
piercing hole starting from the bottom (inside) of the navel (belly
button) pushing the barbell up and out of the top hole.
- Screw the ball on the barbell and
re-wash the whole area.
- Done!
