| Belly ring piercing aftercare is one of the
most overlooked aspects of wearing body jewelry that most first-timer's
fall prey to. While simple on it's surface, failing to perform the initial
required piercing maintenance is the most-often cited reason by our
customer's for having to either get their belly ring re-pierced, or
(heaven forbid) abandon it all together. So....how do you take care
for a new belly
piercing? It's really quite simple. First and foremost, in order to speed
the healing process along, you MUST wash your piercing at TWICE each day.
More than that is usually overkill (unless is has gotten contaminated
somehow), and can actually hamper your body's natural ability to fight off
an infection. A good belly ring piercing cleaning regimen should go as
follows:
- Soak the area in a diluted salt & water
solution for 5-7 minutes to cleanse any dried material from the wound.
- Clean the area thoroughly (but gently)
with a mild antibacterial soap, rotating your belly ring (which for a
new piercing is usually a captive-ball type ring) for at least 60-90
seconds.
- Rinse out the piercing thoroughly (make
sure you get all the soap out).
- Pat Dry.
That's it! If you perform the above regimen
twice daily, you should have many years of a trouble free (and sexy!)
belly ring. Note: If you suspect your piercing has gotten infected, see a
qualified medical professional immediately!
